AJ2054
AJ2054 stands for American Jewry in 2054, when we will be celebrating 400 years since the arrival of the first group of Jews to America. It assumes that American Jewry is the “great Diaspora” of our time, which has responsibility for its own wellbeing and security, as well as for the wellbeing and security of World Jewry and Israel.
American Jewry has been "the great diaspora of our time" since the late 19th century by assuming responsibility for World Jewry, by supporting the establishment and growth of the State of Israel and by leading the charge on key challenges facing the Jewish People. After decades of relative prosperity and security, American Jewry is at a crossroads, facing radical domestic and geopolitical changes, a surge of antisemitism and deep internal divides. In 2026, the United States 250th anniversary creates a unique opportunity to discuss the condition and direction of American Jewry for the coming decade.
AJ2054 was kicked off by the Reut Group in spring 2023 against the backdrop of the deep political change in Israel with the goal of ensuring the continued and significant existence and leadership of American Jewry as the great diaspora of our time.
Reut USA
AJ2054 is an effort of Reut USA, an American nonprofit (501(c)3 organization) that is a sibling organization of Israel’s Reut Group, Israel’s leading social impact organization specializing in societal innovation. Reut USA is a think-tank and leadership group that supports and promotes research and programs designed to ensure prosperity and resilience for Israel and the Jewish People, and to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing them, while making a significant and distinct contribution to humanity.
Reut USA creates and scales innovative models by combining research and strategy, design and technology, field work and the work of ‘adaptive leadership’. Reut specializes in identifying Israel’s ‘blind spots’ and researching them; in creating new visions for enhancing prosperity and security; in developing strategies for effectuating these visions; in piloting these strategies; in creating scalable models; and then in scaling these models to create significant long term impact.
